Puerto Rico is a small island compared with the natural riches it holds. The central mountain chain reaches an altitude of 1338m, at Cerro de Punta, and the beaches are soft and with golden sand, washed over by warm turquoise waters. With all that belongs to the United States, Puerto Rico has a culture and a different lifestyle. Many people have kept the original style and the island is still Spanish territory with “fiestas” and “paella”. The 4 million people seem to believe that fun is the only reason they were born here.

Most of the island is burdened by poverty, but Puerto Rico has plenty to boast over 418km of sandy beaches, the third most largest and beautiful underground cave system in the world, the largest radio telescope in the world, that transmits non-stop signals into space and the only rainforest in the U.S. forest system. There are a number of new protected reserves, animal and plant species unique island. Culture that combines multiple inheritance you can hear the infectious rhythms of the island and alert pace of nightlife. Trust me there is no greater location in for scuba diving hen Puerto Rico if you want to feel Latin rhythms merged with West African percussion, jazz swing orchestra and music to create a perfect musical background for this multicultural country.

Often compared with many holiday destinations in the Caribbean, Puerto Rico is huge, geographically speaking, so it is difficult to believe that the best guarded scuba diving secrets is hidden in there.

Is the place where many of those who travel on vacation change the aircraft so only a small percentage of them are stopping to explore these places. The island offers the feeling of a new location and the air of a small spectacular and cosmopolitan large settlement. Walled cities with the look of hundreds of years old and the island offers an excellent historical flair, while the National Rainforest, with tens of kilometers of climbing routes, they can also be found underwater all you have to do is come to these great scuba diving location which offers excellent views to the visitors.

There are diving courses in Puerto Rico, along the north coast, by far the most popular and accessible from San Juan, followed by La Parguera location in the south, known for scuba diving along the submerged walls and on north-west coast, famous for its beaches. But certainly, the best place for diving remains the group of islands of Puerto Rico Satellite. Of these, Mona Island is the most famous, both for the west coast with an extension of 72 kilometers of beaches for diving submarines, as well as great variety of marine and terrestrial species that shelters them.

One of the best diving sites in the Mediterranean can be found in the province of Kas located on the edge;
Water visibility in these places sometimes lets you see objects located on the seafloor even at a depth of 30-35 meters. Here you can see a spectacular variety of marine flora and fauna, and sometimes you can find amphorae and other ancient relics on the sea floor covered in sand over the course of decades.

Kas is one of the best 50 diving locations in the world.

There are around 25 different scuba diving spots, that can be reached within 35 minutes starting from the harbor of Kas.

Kas Turkey is a tourist destination located in the province of Antalya, 168 km west of Antalya’s resort.

The Kas resort offers several beaches of sand or tiny pebbles and, although they are less than 10 m width, the beaches are ideal for swimming and spoiling in the sun.

Kas is the second among the resorts in this region of Turkey, with an abundance of tourist and offers many activities a lively nightlife. Night is when the streets of Kas resort is filled with light, laughter and music, but the often romantic atmosphere attracts especially young couples.

The favorite activity of tourists who come to Kas is gliding, but the clear blue water and the lure of the great scuba diving, kayaking, sailing and swimming activities are also irresistible. Visitors with a differently developed sense of adventure are offered trips by jeep to the safari. 2 km from the seashore is the Greek island of Kastelorizo (Megisti in Greek and in Turkish Meise ADAS) – island can be seen from the beach and take a trip with a rented boat or ferry.

Because the beaches of Kas are mostly covered with tiny pebbles many tourists prefer the nearby beach of Patara. You can make small trips by boat to Üçagiz, Kaleköy and Blue Cave. Scuba diving in Kas contains a great amount of possibilities like, cave-diving, viewing underwater canyons, wreck-diving. You can also visit the neighboring village of Kalkan, or go hiking in the mountains, to the rock tombs. The Kas Resort is a perfect base for exploring the historical sites in the region like Demre (Kalenear), Patara, Xanthos (near Kinik) Letoön, Saklikent and Tlos or for going scuba diving.

There is an abundant marine life like: Sea-Turtles, Stingrays, Barakuda, Octopusses, rare Snails, Dorades, Trumpetfishes, Jackfishes, Muray-Eels, Soldierfishes, and many more amazing underwater life forms can be seen regularly in this area.

This new recreational activity has grown in recent years in many countries becoming the gateway to a new world. An amateur diver is a type of adventurer, on a small-scale, which discover a world that until recently was accessible only in his imagination.

Recreational diving was derived from 30 years of military diving. Training systems have been created and equipment was specially adapted to allow the public to participate in such activities considered, until then, extreme. Now any person having more than 10 years and a state of good health can participate in a diving course. The old conception according to which diving was just a privilege reserved to the military and that requires a complicated technique is very much outdated. One of the first international organization that has patented a system for recreational diving courses Professional Association of Diving Instructors is (PADI) in the United States. For thirty years PADI patented worldwide over ten million sport divers, is now the standard spread of diving in the world. There are other systems of diving: SSI (Scuba School International), NAUI (National Association of Underwater Instructors), CMAS (World Confederation of Underwater Activities), HSA (Handicapped Scuba Association) and many others. What matters, however, is that the instructor prepares you and that you are trained, and not necessarily in every standard, most of these standards are similar.

Today, diving centers and cruise ships designed specifically for diving expeditions offer unique opportunities to experience the most exotic corners of the planet for recreational diving purposes. Coral islands of Indonesia and Polynesia, the incredible reefs of the Indian Ocean and Red Sea, wild underwater landscapes of the Galapagos off the coast of South America have become accessible for amateur divers. In this age of speed, thousands of colors of Red Sea coral reefs are only a few hours of flight away from any city.

In the USA, sport diving courses in the PADI system recently began to be appreciated at their full potential. The first level of recreational diving – PADI Open Water Diver – graduate course offers the opportunity to do dive anywhere in the world, accompanied by a diving partner (buddy) to the maximum depth of 18 m. Open Water Diver course lasts from 3 to 7days depending on how the learner progresses. It includes the theory and pool training as some dives in the sea. With a PADI certificate in your pocket, you have access to the resources of any diving center, you can participate in any diving expedition and you can rent diving equipment and fill bottles worldwide thus fulfilling your recreational diving needs .

The adventure goes on: Advanced Open Water course (3 days), which allows you to go further, deeper meaning, up to 30 meters – now you will learn to dive in special conditions: night diving, wreck diving, diving in caves, etc.. Next course Emergency First Response prepares you to provide first aid. Further, the Rescue Diver course (approximately 5 days) teaches you how to apply knowledge of first aid in and under water, through exercise of tracing, recovery and rescue of a diver in difficulty. From here to the first professional level you only have to take one step, but a step long enough … Dive master course. It can last from 10 to 30 days and the patent holders are considered underwater guides and can be hired in a diving center. The next step is hierarchical Instructor (Open Water Scuba Instructor – OWSI) that can form and teach students at all the above levels. Follow the various specialties of instructors (to cave underwater photography, etc..) And the Course Director, who can shape and patented OWSI Instructors.

The door to a new world is opened by following a recreational diving course which is both fascinating and colorful. Thousands of species of fish, coral reefs, wrecks, caves submerged, waiting to be discovered and loved!

Croatia (Croatian Hrvatska) is a country in South between Slovenia, Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro bordering the Adriatic Sea. With the capital at Zagreb, Croatia, is one of the founders of Yugoslavia and gained independence in 1991. Its water is so clear, like crystal and shelters a wide variety of fish species. This made scuba diving to watch underwater creature’s leader instead of diving on the long list of outdoor activities that Croatia had to offer.

The diving industry in Croatia, if we can call it that, is increasing due to thriving underwater beauty and diversity of landscapes that you can easily find due to water clarity. Besides the factor of “desecration” of the marine sanctuary there are many factors that cause the water of the Adriatic Sea to be so clear. As an “illusion” in the desert portions of cold water when they meet on the hot water, the light is distorted by the junction currents. Croatia’s climate stable and consistent link between water causes a uniform and undistorted, clear sight. Also, the Adriatic Sea continental shelf is more rocky than sandy. Thus, with rather large rocks on the seabed, currents have no sand to transport and water remains more clear.

All divers must be certified with a target card for diving in Croatia, and if you’re not certified, there are courses available that, in most cases, you can pay in installments. For more information call the diving federation of Croatia and enjoy the certificate valid for one year after he was released.

Diving in caves are a specialty in Croatia and Sv Andrija cave is among the most wonderful caves the sea has to offer. Covered in red coral, the underwater cave is a great view and accessible to all certified divers.

Historically in a specific area for safari, Croatia has numerous wrecks to be explored, showing thousands of years history of this country. Since it can be dangerous to explore these wrecks, many of which are recommended only for professional divers, Baron Gautsch, near Rovinj is one of the most famous wrecks and there are ten centers offering diving trips and boat or submarine tours of the ship. Baron Gautsch (near Pula) is the wreck of a passenger ship also called the “Titanic of the Adriatic”. It was built in 1908 and sank on August 13, 1914, when he went over a mine and sank in ten minutes. Following the accident were 214 lives lost. Today is the home of algae, corals and sponges and is one of the most extraordinary diving sites in the Adriatic. The wreck lies at a depth of 28-42 m. This historical monument with a length of 82.3 m and 11.9 m wide is recommended only only to advanced divers.

Gautsch Baron offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in places where no one has gone before. The lower portion of the boat has not yet been fully explored, but due to the specificity exploring shipwrecks for the first time, it is recommended for professionals to venture in the unknown.

Although scuba diving is not permitted in the beautiful waters of national parks as Krka and Plitvice, there are scuba diving expeditions organized in other national parks like Kornati and Mljet. Kornati National Park was declared because of the extraordinary beauty of the great continental shelf in this region, with those reefs that are home to a color you can only image and of the fish on which the water flashes of life and the beautiful reef.

The park has only seven areas where diving is allowed, although it consists of 89 islands, each one offers wonderful sights of fish life or other geological formations unprecedented.

Park Mljet also includes organized scuba diving expeditions in its offer in the salt water of the lake. Due to very small currents of the lake, the underwater life is totally different to that of the sea. But as with diving areas in the park Kornati, only organized groups of divers have access to these areas.

It sunk on 6 October 1941 – Abu Nuhas Sha’ab

A legend in the world of diving, the wreck is indeed fascinating. It is a wreck not to be missed and an essential destination during a visit to the Red Sea.

Position of the “SS Thistlegorm” ship – GPS 27 ° 48.800 ‘N, 33 ° 55.250′ E

General characteristics:
Tonnage: 4869 DWT
Length: 128 meters
Width: 18 feet
Maximum depth: 33 meters
Minimum depth (in the main deck): 16 feet

Minimum admitted skill level to dive: beginner (Open Water Diver)

The ship was a supply vessel of the Second World War, which sunk in October 6, 1941and was located by Jacques Cousteau in the 1950s.
However, its position remained only a painful uncertainty, until the rediscovery of October 1992. Now divers from around the world are attracted by the SS Thistlegorm, fascinated by its amazing load of military equipment.
In the autumn of 1941, the British Eighth Army forces were carrying a campaign against Rommel’s forces of North Africa.

On the night of October 6, the freighter S.S. Thistlegorm, carrying supplies needed in England, anchored at Sha’ab Ali, just one day away from Suez, the terminus of its long journey around southern Africa head. Parallel with it the battleship HMS Carlisle was navigating as an escort.

The stationary vessels were detected by a German plane and immediately sent two bombers from a base on the island of Crete, which was occupied by Germans. With not much fuel the bombers attacked their first target that appeared in the viewfinder the SS Thistlegorm.

One bomb hit the store four, which was filled with ammunition, causing a huge explosion that destroyed the ship. As the fire spread, the ship was rocked by other explosions, destroying the middle section of the stern and sending the ship to the bottom. Nine men of the crew died.

Marine life

Despite the large number of divers that violate the wreck SS Thistlegorm solitude, marine life is excellent. The Red Sea is spectacular in its diversity of species, with about 1,000 species of fish, of which 17 percent could be unique or endemic species about 2000 invertebrates and 180 species of coral.

You have the opportunity to see large specimens of lion fish on SS Thistlegorm, especially when these are going to hunt the big schools of Parapriacanthus ransonneti.
Samples of Lutjanus buquttatus, Heniochus acununatus and barracuda constituting a permanent presence, but you may encounter large specimens of Lutjanus Plectoropomus and Cephalopholis. Species and copies of Pomacanthus, Pygoplites dicanthus live near the cluster of large Gorgonaceae corals that grab on the wreck.

Objectives to be achieved during the dive

The drawback of diving on the SS Thistlegorm is not the current (generally weak), or the visibility (generally good) and not the depth (generally safe). It’s about the increasingly large number of existing divers underwater.

It is not excluded to see over 10 to 15 boats anchored above the wreck and you can be sure that you will have company during an expedition. This can be a problem.
An unfortunate aspect of this activity is that, after the wreck was discovered, many began extracting priceless artifacts, activity located at a not too distant limit of robbery.
SS Thistlegorm lies at depths between 16 meters to 30 meters, thus beginner level (Open Water Diver) being accepted to the main deck.

Only 126 m long SS Thistlegorm can be explored in a single diving hub, especially if you use a mixture of Nitrox to extend bottom time of stay. But a second dive will be made as to explore the ship thoroughly to appreciate the true value it deserves.

SS Thistlegorm lies directly on the sand, except for the stern, which is separated from the rest of the hull on the starboard side. The ship Center is destroyed due to the explosion that took place many years ago, although the stern of the vessel is relatively intact. Ship’s stores contain real values.

It can be explored from the bow, or, more often, just above the bow of the ship’s stores, where the load is; the SS Thistlegorm is at the same time, a military depot and a museum.
Penetration in the ship store is relatively easy. Warehouse No. 1 contains lower levels Lee Enfield rifles MK.III crates, aircraft parts and a large number of rubber boots. Here, in this magazine are two Rolls Royce armored cars, whose logos have disappeared long ago. Morris cars are at a higher level, and the famous British motorcycle manufacturing BSA W.D.M.20, made for military use.

At the starboard side is the warehouse No. 2, where you can enter trough the warehouse No. 1 or from above, contains numerous Bedford trucks in the lower sections, some of them loaded with motorcycles. Bottom at – 30 meters in front of the store No. 4 and roughly 20 meters from the hull was one of two 0-2-0 steam engines that carried Thistlegorm.

You can enter through any door of the wheelhouse to get in the maps room, officers’ mess or in the bathroom. One of the most famous sights is the Captain bath of the Thistlegorm which is now largely filled by mud and inhabited by the Rift pachypitila. Ceilings of these areas have a shiny appearance, caused by a layer of air trapped in caused by the entry of divers in these places.
Pupa is also worth researching, even if just for the massive propeller which is still in place and well preserved. Here are the crew quarters and a 7 cm deck gun.

Diving SS Thistlegorm takes you for a few minutes in the history of those times!

Looking for great entertainment? Then the Bahamas is the place for you! The most populated islands of the archipelago tourists are in New Providence and Grand Bahama, native realms of diving operations whose target is to maintain the mood of divers and tourists. You can venture into the most extreme situations, from feeding sharks, diving with them or why not whales, visit the wrecks, underwater diving in caves with the scooter or with the submarine is a truly exceptional experience. Besides all this, is to note and admire the reef. So Bahamas has something to offer for everyone’s tastes.

How many of us, are there that would have the courage to jump head first into the deepest underwater vertical caves in the world. Dean’s Blue Hole as it is called, is located near the Bahamas and has a total depth of 202 meters. The brave one that dared to throw himself in the dark abyss was called Guillaume Nery and he is world champion in diving without oxygen mask. And yes, even that jump was made during a single breath …

Bahamas is an archipelago of 700 islands and coral reefs in the Atlantic Ocean that extends over a length of 800km in the clearest ocean waters in the world. Given by the Spanish Bahamas called – “Baja apple”, meaning “large shallow.” Waters that wash the shores their beautiful turquoise pastels are so calm and quiet and people who are “island time”, a term describing the relaxed atmosphere and slower pace of life. This rate is usually contagious since many of the islands are either uninhabited or with very few inhabitants, and the wild beaches dotted with pastel shells have all chances to bring your peace either while diving or while relaxing under the sun.

But the archipelago is twice the size of Spain territory, and those who want more than isolation and silence, will discover that Bahamas is big enough to offer something for everyone like shopping in crowded markets, world class golf land , diving among shipwrecks and coral reefs, windsurfing and para sailing, dancing the night to the rhythm of “Goombay”, “Calypso” and “Junkanoo”. Perhaps this very rich and eccentric variety attracts tourists and Bahamas offers a wide range of exclusive villas and luxury resorts. But the Bahamas was once a haven for freed slaves and the hospitality that includes any visitor persists today, so you’re more likely to meet houses covered with shingles than luxury resorts.

After the accomplishments done by the researcher JY Cousteau the sport appeared in France after the Second World War.

The value and complexity of the equipment, the investment is comparable to ski equipment. But the similarities stop there. While for skiing is enough to have enough snow for underwater hunting several conditions must be met. First the water must have at least 2m of visibility and the weather must be sunny. Obviously, the presence of fish is necessary for underwater hunting. There are several styles that can also depend on the habits of fish species. You can fish from the patrol from ambush or grotto. The most spectacular fishing remains the one from underwater. There is no free flight development closer than the state of weightlessness in space. Sports equipment requires non manner breathing underwater. Keeping breathing (apnea) with or without exercise is beneficial for health; people who practice free diving have low blood pressure and pulse.

There is no better way to lose some extra pounds. The water activity of heat-resistant suit without energy losses are a speed greater than the digestive tract can assimilate. The condition is that after leaving the water to not eat more than usual.

You need to remember the safety measures:
- Always use the right amount of ballast that you carry so that you remain a slight buoyancy.
- Do not overdo it with apnea duration. It is possible that the limitations occur after fainting. If you do not get to it, your body will tell you when to exit, the urge to breathe.
When you get out of the water after an underwater hunting expedition wipe out the water and cover with a towel. Air currents are more dangerous in causing some cold then sitting in the water.

The handling of the hand-harpoon:
- Do not handle out of the water a loaded hand-harpoon
- Do not move toward any person whether it is loaded or unloaded, in water or out, even in jest.
- It is advisable to avoid crowded beaches.

It is used to capture small fish, from the bottom of the sea or from caves.

The handling of the Crossbow:
It is used to launch an arrow with a diameter of 6 to 9 mm, weight 500gr can be overcome. The weight and speed are higher penetrating power increases, but the same extent and strength of the launch, which currently get with compressed air. Crossbows are chosen by size and habits of captured fish. For fish living in water tables is recommended a long while crossbow for small fish that live in caves or on the bottom, a lower- performance crossbows is recommended.
